Rockford native Fred VanVleet had a big night for the Toronto Raptors as they defeated the Milwaukee Bucks, 123-116 in a mid-season showdown of the Eastern Conference’s top two teams.
VanVleet put together a 21-point performance, shooting 6-12 from the field and 5-8 from beyond the arc. He was a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line, and added 8 assists and 5 rebounds for the Raptors to go with a +17 rating in 35 starters’ minutes.
Pascal Siakam and Kawhi Leonard each scored 30 points for Toronto to fend off a 43-point night from Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee.
The Raptors are now 29-12, and the Bucks are 27-11. The two teams meet one more time this season on Thursday, January 31 in Toronto.
