Rockford (WREX) — Three years ago, Sunny Williams was diagnosed with cancer and was given less than a year to live.
While she had always considered herself a giving person, she knew had to do something extra with the rest of her days.
“At that point we thought it’d be one more Christmas. We did a big year, tried to help a lot of people.” said Sunny.
Well, the days turned into months, and the months turned into years..
“You have less than a year to live, and now you’re alive, and if I just go sit on the couch and feel sorry for myself, why am I here?” said Sunny.
Over those years, Sunny’s ‘Secret Santa’ Facebook page has grown.
“Friends of friends, or someone who’s down on their luck can come to the page and ask for help.” said Sunny.
Then, Santa himself delivers the gifts.
“I would’ve continued doing this with my 25 or 30 kids until I died.” said Sunny.
Now, it isn’t just one Santa doing the deliveries.
“I have Santas that I don’t even know, I have Santas that aren’t friends of friends, I don’t even know how they heard of me. It’s unbelievable.” said Sunny.
Those who receive the gifts say it means everything to them.
“They know what’s going on, and they hear their friends talking about it. I didn’t want them to feel left out, or they weren’t as important, or Santa didn’t think they were good enough this year.” said Tracie Williams.
However, it means even more to Sunny.
“I ended up finishing out the year cancer free. Now I’m 3 years in remission on December 15th.” said Sunny.

“I just think it’s great, and I wish there more people like her.” said Tracie
