Maxiumum Performance in Rockford may look like just a gym downstairs, but upstairs, it’s a Christmas wonderland.
However, the gifts aren’t for the staff or gym members.
“This is why we do what we do, we’re able to, after 9 years of being open, not only establish the relationships and give back with the community here, but this is what makes it fun.” said Mike Zahniser, owner of Maximum Performance.
The presents are for children. It’s part of a program called ‘Adopt An Angel’ through the Northern Illinois Foster Care Alliance. 80 out of the 105 presents from Maximum performance are going to ‘Our Children’s Homestead.’
“We deal with children who are faced with a lot more challenges, been through trauma and many time several placements.” said Dennia James with Our Children’s Homestead.
Being apart of the program is something Maximum Performance has done for the last 4 years.
“This is the biggest year, and it’s been really cool because every year they give us a few more.” said Zahniser.
But the owners of the gym won’t say it’s their doing.
“We have a platform to where we have such an amazing community of people and that’s what this is. It’s all our members, everyone in our training community. Everyone is able to get 1, 2 or 5 kids.” said Zahniser.
Either way, Our Children’s Homestead is just glad every kid gets to open a gift on Christmas. It’s thanks, in part, to Maximum Performance.
“Each kid wants to feel special, each kid wants to feel loved, each kid wants to feel special on Christmas, I don’t care how old they are.” said James.
