2018-19 Golden Apple finalists announced

ROCKFORD (WREX) — 13 WREX along with the Golden Apple Foundation is excited to announce the 20 finalists for the 2018-19 Golden Apple Awards.

Hundreds of teachers were nominated and now committees have narrowed down the finalists. All of these teachers across Winnebago and Boone counties are so deserving of the honor.

The finalists are:

Jessica Gerrond at East High School

Michael Manke at Rockford Christian Middle School

Amanda McCallister at Roosevelt Community Education Center

Sheila Morrall at Belvidere South Middle School

Amanda Newmes at Belvidere North High School

All of us at 13 WREX want to send a big congratulations to all of the finalists and to all of the nominees recognized this year. These finalists will be observed by trained community volunteers on multiple occasions and their classrooms starting in January through February.

Five teachers will receive the prestigious Golden Apple Award in a surprise classroom presentations that will be featured on 13 WREX.
