U-Haul could soon own former Kmart on East State Street

ROCKFORD (WREX) — The former Kmart on East State Street could soon be owned by U-Haul.

A spokesperson for the company says the property is part of a bundle deal that still requires approval in bankruptcy court.

If approved, the Kmart store will become a full-service U-Haul store with indoor self-storage, truck and trailer rentals and retail space.

There is no word yet on when that deal could be approved.
