Spectrum School brings in more than $700 apart of ‘Pennies for Patients’

ROCKFORD (WREX) — Spectrum School brings in more than $500 in coins in November for “Pennies for Patients,” sponsored by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS).

The school brought in a total of $536.81 worth of coins, including 18,391 pennies. The school gathered the coins in a bathtub that usually serves as a reading space in a classroom.

A tub of coins Spectrum School students raised for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The school’s three top donors, Calum Scroggins, Declan Scroggins and Felix Davis, spent more than two hours feeding a coinstar machine at a Walmart earlier this week. By doing that, the donations can directly go to the LLS without any fees.

Overall the school collected $746.81.
