Rockford native Heather Nauert expected to become US Ambassador to the UN

WASHINGTON (WREX)- Rockford native Heather Nauert is expected to replace Nikki Haley as the Ambassador to the United Nations.

President Trump is expected to make the announcement tomorrow, according to multiple national news outlets. If approved by the Senate, Nauert will replace Haley, who is stepping down at the end of the year.

Nauert has been the State Department Spokesperson and the front runner for the ambassador job.

She joined the State Department as a spokesperson in April of 2017 after working for Fox News.

Previously, she was a network correspondent for ABC and a health insurance consultant in Washington DC.

Nauert also graduated from Keith Country Day School in Rockford.
