WINNEBAGO – Winnebago senior guard Alyssa Thompson is our new WREX Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Rock Valley College.

Thompson has been a four year player for the Lady Indians, and plays three sports for Winnebago. This basketball season is off to a good start for her and her team.

“I think she’s learned a lot more about the game and how to be a leader out on the floor and [can] sort of dictate what happens out there,” Winnebago head coach Judy Krause, who earned her 500th career win earlier this season, said.

Thompson has high aspirations for her team this season.

“It would be awesome to get one of the top places in the conference, that’s one of my main goals,” Thompson said. “We have a really great and tough conference and it helps us a lot in the postseason.”

Thompson will lead the way as a floor general, leading the Lady Indians to great heights as the season progresses.
