LANARK – Eastland/Pearl City football standouts and twin brothers Jayden and Jarod Kempel are this week’s WREX Athletes of the Week, sponsored by Rock Valley College.

The Kempel brothers have helped E/PC to an undefeated mark so far this season and a spot in the 2-A state quarterfinals.

“Man, I’m glad these guys are on our team,” head coach Jared McNutt said.

The dynamic duo constantly tries to outdo the other one.

“It’s an ongoing competition between us two, and it makes us better on the field and in life,” Jayden Kempel said.

The gamesmanship between the two helps create a bond off the field that these twins will share for life.

“It’s good to have someone always at your back, be there for you, and you’re never alone,” Jarod Kempel said. “You always have someone to do something with.”

They hope that something includes a few more football games in their E/PC career. The Wildcatz hit the road to Orion for a quarterfinal game Saturday at 1:00.
