Two men charged with stealing dozens of firearms from gun stores

ROCKFORD (WREX)- Two 20-year-old men face federal charges for stealing guns from licensed gun stores.

20-year-old Kyland Willis and 20-year-old Martaevien Stevenson allegedly stole 29 firearms from a store in Belvidere in January of 2018, then tried to break into the same store two more times. A third person, who authorities did not name, was with them.

Willis was also charged in another case where he allegedly stole 24 guns from a store in Loves Park on two different occasions in December of 2017. Willis and another person also tried to break int that store two other times.

Stevenson and Willis are charged with cnspiracy to steal firearms from a licensed firearms dealer, stealing firearms from a licensed firearms dealer and possessing stolen firearms.

Each conspiracy carries a max penalty of 5 years in prison for each count. Possession of stolen firearms has a max penalty of 10 years and a fine of up to $250,000.

Both Willis and Stevenson have pled not guilty.
