Winnebago County Trauma Informed Community continue film series

ROCKFORD (WREX) – A local organization is hosting a film series that aims to reduce trauma in our community.

The Winnebago County Trauma Informed Community showed its fifth film, Precious, about childhood trauma at Rockford Public Library’s Nordlof Center. The film series is a way to highlight and reduce the different events or experiences that have negative impacts on the health and well-being of residents. A discussion led by a panel of experts applying the aspects of the movie to the challenges faced in Winnebago County followed the film.

“Trauma is something that you can’t bury,” Rockford Public Library Librarian Zoe Norwood said. “It needs to be voiced, it needs to be listened to, discussed. Trauma in childhood, also trauma among adults, but especially childhood trauma.”

The next and final film, Healing Neen, will be on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 6 p.m at the Nordlof Center.
