LOVES PARK (WREX) – On Tuesday night, many people from the area had the chance to meet candidates from multiple local races for the upcoming midterm elections.
The League of Women Voters of Greater Rockford hosted a Meet and Greet in Loves Park to hear more from candidates before election day. Candidates for Winnebago County Clerk, Sheriff and State Representatives for the 67th, 68th and 69th House Districts all got to talk about their ideas if elected. Both candidates for sheriff gave their thoughts about the Winnebago County budget.
“It’s how you manage your resources that I have had a career of doing and the sheriff has obviously shown he’s having trouble doing that,” Winnebago County Sheriff candidate Bob Springer said.
“There’s definitely a connection between a spreadsheet that says do this and the service that you provide and they have to be married,” Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana said. “But we have to do it strategically and slowly we have to watch the budget, but I still have to provide services.”
Another forum will be held for the 16th Congressional District. That will be at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at the Burpee Center at Rockford University.
