Winnebago’s Marcus Smith Wins 1-A Boys Golf State Title

Winnebago junior Marcus Smith was the last man standing at the top of the leaderboard at the IHSA 1-A boys golf state championships, winning the individual title by three strokes with a -1 71 score.

The tournament was shortened to a one-round, 18-hole final after inclement weather on Friday, and Smith did not disappoint, shooting a 33 on the back nine with three birdies and no bogeys to win gold representing the Indians.

Here’s how the rest of our local players finished, organized by gender and class.
