IceHogs Use Huge 3rd Period to Down Stars

The Rockford IceHogs erupted for a three-goal final frame in their 2018-2019 home opener to defeat the Texas Stars 5-3 at the BMO Harris Bank Center on Saturday.

In a rematch of last year’s Western Conference Final, Tyler Sikura’s first period power play goal put the Hogs in front before the Stars scored twice to end the first period. The teams traded goals in the second period with Texas bringing a 3-2 lead into the second intermission.

Then the floodgates opened – Matheson Iacopelli and Dylan Sikura scored about three minutes apart in the second half of the third before Darren Raddysh’s empty netter sealed the victory.

Collin Delia made 34 saves in net for Rockford, who returns to action on Sunday at 4:00 pm at the BMO against the Hershey Bears.
