Hononegah Sweeps NIC-10 Cross Country Team Titles

It was a brisk but beautiful Saturday for a cross country meet at Jefferson High School, site of the NIC-10 conference championships.

The girls varsity race went off first, with Belvidere North’s Madison Diercks (18:04) and Gianna Sagona (18:08) earning the top two individual finishes. Hononegah’s Taylor Frommer (18:28) and Alicia Repka (18:32) earned third and fourth respectively. Four more Lady Indians finished in the top ten, and that edged out Belvidere North in the girls team standings for a Hononegah NIC-10 title.

The boys varsity race saw East’s Noah Friske clock a 16:00 finish in the individual standings for first place. He was followed by Belvidere North’s Max Beutel (16:07), Hononegah’s Spencer Hielkema (16:20), and Auburn’s Jonah Garcia (16:24). Hielkema lead the way for the Indians, who also finished ahead of Belvidere North in the team standings to sweep the conference’s cross country championships.
