The IHSA girls tennis sectional championships saw multiple local players punch their tickets to the final weekend of the season.
Harlem hosted the 2-A sectional, with Auburn sophomore Belen Nevenhoven winning the singles championship, beating Belvidere North senior Caroline Park, 6-0, 6-1. Auburn sophomore Paris Thompson and Guilford sophomore Kasey Aucutt rounded out the top four singles players.
Hononegah’s Hsing-Yng Louh and Reagen Wells won the top doubles prize, beating Belvidere North’s Remy Bice and Morgan Dent in the final, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1. Auburn’s Melanie Martinovic & Phuong Pham, and Harlem’s Sam Flaningam and Kendra Belisle rounded out the top four doubles pairings.
Rochelle hosted the 1-A girls tennis sectional – Dixon’s Riley Bally and Sycamore’s Lizzie Egerman placed third and fourth in singles. The Boylan pair of Celine Feria and MiaBella Provenzano finished first in doubles, followed by Lutheran’s Alyssa Guse and Heidea Vaudt.
