Teen shot, another teen arrested in Freeport

FREEPORT (WREX) – A 17-year-old is in custody after a shooting Tuesday afternoon in Freeport.

Police responded to the 500 block of W. Clark Street after a person was shot. When they arrived, they found a 15-year-old lying in the road. The teen was shot in the thigh.

Officers found the suspect in a home on the 600 block of W. Stephenson Street.

The teen who was shot was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.

The 17-year-old suspect is charged with 5 counts of unlawful use of a weapon.
