UPDATE: Victim in Newburg Road shooting identified

UPDATE: ROCKFORD (WREX) – The victim from the shooting on Newburg Road has been identified by the Winnebago County Coroner.

Coroner Bill Hintz says 28-year-old Jarvis Wilder of Rockford was the victim in the shooting.  The coroner’s office says it was contacted on Wednesday, October 3rd of a death at SwedishAmerican Hospital.  Once the coroner arrived on scene, Jarvis was pronounced dead at 11:34 p.m.


One person is dead after being shot on Wednesday night.

It happened at the 4500 block of Newburg Road just after 6:15 p.m. Wednesday night. Police say two shooting suspects drove themselves to a hospital.

Police say a 28-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were shot outside of the residence in the area. The man later died from his injuries. The woman has serious injuries, but not life threatening. Police initially said the woman was 30 years old, but later corrected her age.

The shooting is still under investigation.


ROCKFORD (WREX)- UPDATE: Rockford Police responded to a shots fired call in the 4500 block of Newburg Road just fter 6:15 Wednesday Night.

After the call came in, police received a call for two shooting victims who drove themselves to a hospital.

When police got to the scene, officers learned the 28-year-old man and the 30-year-old woman were both shot outside of a residence in that area.

The man has life-threatening injuries, he is in critical condition. The woman has serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Police are not releasing any other details at this time.
