Officials on scene of a serious wreck in Rockford

ROCKFORD (WREX) – Officials with the Rockford Police and Fire Department are on the scene of a serious wreck in downtown Rockford.

It’s at the intersection of Whitman and Church Streets. 13 News has a reporter on scene and will provide updates as they become available.

Officials ask that residents avoid this area until further notice.

ROCKFORD (WREX) – UPDATE:

Three people were hurt in a two-car crash this morning in downtown Rockford. Officials say the call came in around 4:30 a.m. and happened at the intersection of Whitman and Church Streets.

A Jeep and pickup truck collided at the intersection. It’s unclear what caused the crash. The driver of that pickup truck had to be extricated. All three people are being treated at a local hospital for their injuries.

The conditions of the three people is not known at this time.
