Weather warms up further this weekend

ROCKFORD (WREX) – Temperatures will heat up a little further this weekend as the long stretch of dry, sunny, and warm weather rolls on. Highs are expected to reach the middle 80’s over the next 3 days.

We still have the cool nights, though. Temperatures tonight will dip into the upper 50’s again, with a clear sky and patchy fog. Any fog in the area Friday morning should clear out quickly after sunrise.

Friday then warms into the middle 80’s, with a ton of sunshine and dry conditions. Patchy fog should stay away starting tomorrow night. The weekend will essentially be a copy of Friday’s weather: sunshine, dry conditions, and highs in the middle 80’s. We’ll cool off slightly to the low 80’s on Monday, but have similar weather otherwise.

Conditions start to change next week, when cooler weather begins to make more appearances. We may dip into the 70’s for a day by the middle of the week, then jump back to the 80’s before even colder weather slides in next weekend. There are slight chances for rain Monday through Wednesday, then showers and storms look more likely Thursday morning.

Late next week and into next weekend, temperatures in the 60’s to 70’s for highs are possible, so look for a bigger cool down to fall weather on the horizon. The fall equinox, considered the start of the fall season, is next Saturday. The arrival of the much cooler weather may line up just in time with the beginning of the season.
