Two local colleges receive state money for maintenance projects

ROCKFORD (WREX)- Two local colleges will receive money from the State of Illinois to fund capital improvement projects.

Rock Valley College and Kishwaukee College will both receive money from the state’s capital budget for Fiscal Year 2019. Money will go toward maintenance projects at both schools.

RVC will receive $330,905. That money will go toward the architecture and engineering phase of reconstruction and resurfacing of a campus parking lot, plus adding energy-efficient lighting upgrades to campus.

Kishwaukee will receive $220,005 for repairs to accessibility to its greenhouse and head house on campus.

Community colleges across the state were given around $150 million in funding for Fiscal Year 2019.
