1 person killed in serious crash in front of Eisenhower M.S.

ROCKFORD (WREX) – The Rockford Police Department says one person has died after a serious three car crash in front of Eisenhower Middle School.

The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office identifies the victim of the crash as a 36-year-old man. His name will not be released until family is notified.

They say a bright red sports car was traveling West on Spring Creek Road and swerved in to oncoming traffic, hitting a maroon car. The maroon car swerved to miss the bright red car, and hit a van that was in the lane next to it.

The man driving the bright red sports car was pronounced dead at the hospital. A woman driving the maroon car was taken to the hospital; her condition is not known. Two people in the van are OK.

Police say the area will be shut down for several hours. The only way to access the school in from the east. Police say Driftwood Lane is still open.

13 News is heading to the scene and will bring you more updates as they become available.
