Armed Rockford man arrested after running from police during traffic stop

ROCKFORD (WREX) – Winnebago County Sheriff’s arrest a Rockford man after he fled during a traffic stop.

Tyler Ingram, 19, of Rockford, was arrested after he got out of the passenger seat during a traffic stop and ran away. Officers say that Ingram was armed with a gun.

It happened Wednesday afternoon around 1:30 p.m at the intersection of Preston St. and Trenton Ave.

Authorities say that Ingram ran onto the property of Dennis School on Lincoln Blvd. The school was contacted by officers and placed on lockdown. The suspect did not enter the school.

A Winnebago County K9 team was brought in to track the suspect. Officials found Ingram with a gun at Springfield Ave. and Cunningham Rd.

The driver of the vehicle, Deshaun Malone, 20, of Rockford, was charged with driving with a suspended license and no insurance. Malone was charged and let go.

Ingram is being held at the Winnebago County Jail and faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm with no FOID card.
