Months-long investigation links group to crime spree in Rockford

Over the past month, the Rockford Police Department has investigated a series of armed robbery’s in the city. And now, police say they know who committed the crimes. 

Warrants have been issued for two 17-year-olds and 20-year-old Latham Swift. 

One 17-year-old faces an armed robbery charge, the other 17-year-old is wanted on two counts of armed robbery, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of stolen property. Swift faces an armed robbery charge. Two other people, a 17-year-old and 16-year-old, have also been charged with armed robbery. 

"It is discouraging to see juveniles involved in such serious violent crime," says Police Chief Dan O’Shea. "We will continue to pursue all persons committing violent acts in order to make our community safer." 

Swift is still at large. His bond is set at $25,000. There are no photos available of the suspects.
