On Father’s Day, a Belvidere man says he ended up bloody and beaten in the back of an ambulance. He says the people who put him there, were Belvidere Police officers.
Paul Ainley says police abused their power when they arrested him that day. But that’s not his only complaint. He’s also upset over why they were at his home in the first place. It all stems from a bitter custody battle over his grandson.
13 Investigates takes a closer look at that altercation, including audio from a next door neighbor that captures the entire incident.
Meanwhile, Belvidere Police are defending its actions that day, saying Ainley put his hands on an officer and resisted arrest.
