Rockford man arrested after attempted carjacking

Rockford Police say they have arrested a man after he attempted to steal a car from a woman on Tuesday night.

It happened at the Schnuck’s on 11th Street around 10 p.m on Tuesday.

20-year-old Kenneth Latin Jr. was arrested and now faces multiple charges, including attempted vehicular hijacking.

The victim told officers that she was in her car when Latin Jr. opened the door to the vehicle and tried to pull the woman out. She said after she resisted, he then hit her in the face.

Latin Jr. left the scene on foot and was later found by police at a house on Kinsey Street, just north of the Schnuck’s.
