Project First Rate launches new initiative in Rockford

Project First Rate announced that it has launched a new initiative that will focus on helping the community in a variety of ways.

The group is a partnership of Union Contractors and Union Craftsmen. The group has named the initiative Rebuild Rockford. the group says their current goal with the initiative is to restore a blighted home in an area of need. People involved in the building trades in our area will oversee the project which will bring in people from lower economic standing. Those people will be introduced to a career within the building trades while improving the local area.

"There’s a multitude of things going on. We’re addressing a skills gap, we’re addressing unemployment rates, we’re ensuring that our blighted neighborhoods are being reconstructed. And it’s something we’re really happy to do and we’re really happy to check multiple boxes of issues."

Said Jake Castanza with Project First Rate.

The renovated homes will be made available for purchase to local first responders.
