Rockford City Market organizers estimate a few thousand more people than normal came out for its annual Rock The Market night.
"There’s a sense of community," Cathy McDermott, with the Rock River Development Partnership says. "You always run into somebody you know or used to know."
This Friday’s city market is a bit more special.
That’s because rather than wrapping up at 8 p.m., market goers could enjoy more music and food a couple hours later.
"Some people would like us to do this every week but it’s really not possible with other vendor commitments, but once a year we always want to do something special so we Rock The Market," McDermott says.
That means more bands, more food and more time to catch up with familiar faces at Rockford City Market. It also means more people. City market organizer say they estimate roughly 10,500 people came out for Rock the Market. It’s a few thousand more than average.
