13 WREX welcomes two new anchors, James Stratton and Lindsey Fafoglia, to its news team

13 WREX is excited to announce the addition of two new anchors to its National Edward R. Murrow Award-winning news team.  James Stratton joins the evening news desk, while Lindsey Fafoglia joins 13 News Today.

Stratton currently anchors weekend newscasts for KWQC, the NBC-affiliate in the Quad Cities. He is also a reporter at the station, where he has covered the Iowa Caucuses, interviewed multiple presidential candidates and spent nine months investigating and reporting on a juvenile crime epidemic.

I am a firm believer in being a steward of public information and fighting against corruption and wrongdoing,” Stratton said. “I am excited to bring my knowledge of open records requests, investigative reporting and leadership to the anchor desk and the people of Rockford.”

Stratton has been at KWQC for six years, working multiple jobs, including intern, photographer, reporter and weekend anchor. James is very active in the Quad Cities community—involved with numerous community organizations.

“James brings a wealth of knowledge and talent to the 13 WREX newsroom,” Josh Morgan, News Director at 13 WREX, said. “His passion for telling stories and getting involved in the community will make him a perfect fit here in Rockford.”

Stratton will join current 13 News Anchor Kristin Crowley on the anchor desk weeknights at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. His first day at WREX will be Monday, Aug. 6.

Fafoglia, meanwhile, is a recent graduate of the University of Missouri Journalism program, where she worked as a reporter and anchor for KOMU in Colombia during her time as a student.

"I am so excited to start my career at WREX in such a wonderful newsroom where everyone is eager to serve the community with the best quality news,” Fafoglia said. “I am ready to get to know Rockford, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the morning show."

Fafoglia completed a number of professional internships while attending school, including at STL TV in St. Louis and at PYE Global in Barcelona, Spain.  Providing her important experience before joining WREX.

“Lindsey brings a great passion for journalism to our morning show,” Morgan said. “Her personality will be a welcome addition to 13 News Today and she’ll quickly become someone viewers can relate to.”

Fafoglia will join current 13 News Today Anchor Nicole Stein on the anchor desk weekday mornings from 5-7 a.m. Her first day on 13 News Today will be Monday, July 9.
