Illinois State Police announce roadside safety checks for July

Illinois State Police are cracking down on drunk driving this summer in Winnebago County.
This weekend, ISP District 16 announced it would be conducting roadside safety checks throughout the month of July.

Officers say they’ll be looking for intoxicated drivers along with unsafe driving, seat belt use, speeding and distracted driving.

ISP reports more than 30 percent of all deadly crashes in Illinois involve alcohol or drugs.
