Old Settlers Day race gets hundreds out on the trails in Rockton

Hundreds of runners battled the heat on Saturday as they hit the trails for the Old Settlers Days 5K.

Around 350 runners participated in the OSD 5K. At the end, each person gets a t-shirt, a festival pass and breakfast.

The race is also a fundraiser for the Carrie Lynn Children’s Center, which helps provide immediate assistance to children going through sexual abuse cases.

"The idea was that children shouldn’t have to go through that. They should have to be able to tell their story one time to someone who is trained to talk to kids and then support would be provided to them immediately when they’re a part of that process," said the center’s executive director Kathy Pomahac.

Pomahac says the Carrie Lynn Children’s Center helps over 600 kids in the Stateline each year.
