Strong Neighborhood block parties back for the summer

The Rockford Police Department and United Way of Rock River Valley are hosting their annual series of summer block parties.

The first one was at the 8th Avenue Strong Neighborhoods House.

The party brings opportunities for residents to meet and engage with police  and their neighbors.

Block party activities include giveaways, bomb robot demonstration and tours of the Rockford Police Mobile Command as well as free food.

"We want to make sure that education is represented, health is represented, literacy is represented and that’s reaching out to both the adults and the children in the neighborhood," said United Way Community Impact Manager Grant Schubert.

The next block party is at Irving Strong Neighborhoods House on Wednesday, June 20 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
