Drive for Five: RVC Softball Wins 5th Straight Title

The Rock Valley College softball team doesn’t rebuild – they reload, annually, and have the banners and rings to prove it.

The Lady Golden Eagles won yet another NJCAA Div. III national tournament championship, their fifth in a row under head coach Darin Monroe. They needed two wins on Saturday in Rochester, Minnesota to get the job done.

Herkimer beat RVC 2-1 in the first game of the championship double elimination doubleheader, and the Lady Generals were up 2-1 after four innings. The Lady Golden Eagles’ bats came to life in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs to put the tournament away and win their fifth championship in a row.

Rock Valley ends the season with a record of 52 wins and 9 losses, their second straight 50-win campaign.
