Dixon High School shooting suspect released from hospital, booked at jail

The suspected Dixon High School shooter has been released from the hospital and booked in the Lee County Jail, according to Dixon City Manager Danny Langloss. 

According to Illinois State Police, 19-year-old Matthew Milby faces three counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, class X felonies. His bond is set at $2 million. 

More charges could be announced in the future, according to state police.

Officials say around 8 a.m. Wednesday, Milby opened fire by the Dixon High School gym. He was confronted by school resources Officer Mark Dallas and shot at Dallas. Dallas returned fire, striking Milby twice. Milby was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. 

Officials say Milby was a current student at Dixon High School and was set to graduate on Sunday.
