FULL VIDEO: News conference from authorities after shooting at Dixon High School

One person has been shot by a school resource officer after officials say he opened fire on police Wednesday morning at Dixon High School, according to Dixon City Manager Danny Langloss.

Langloss says it happened at 8:06 a.m. when a 19-year-old former student fired shots near the west gym. Dixon Police Chief Steve Howell says the student was confronted by a school resource officer. The suspect fired shots toward the officer, and the officer returned fire, striking the suspect. 

Authorities haven’t provided the gunman’s name or the school resource officer. The officer will be placed on administrative leave, per police.
