12-year-old boy is OK after house catches on fire from lightning strike

DeKalb County Officials say that a 12-year-old boy is OK after his house caught fire due to lightning. 

It happened at the 30680 block of Lincoln Avenue in Genoa just after 6 a.m this morning. 

The person who called 9-1-1 told officials that the house had been struck by lightning and then caught on fire. 

A 12-year-old boy inside the home woke up due to the smoke detectors going off. The boy was not injured.

Genoa-Kingston fire was assisted by crews all over the area including Belvidere, Cherry Valley, DeKalb, Sycamore, Kirkland, Hampshire, Huntley, Marengo, Union and Cortland.

The cause of the fire is being ruled accidental due to weather
