A "grass" roots campaign in California is helping the homeless by distributing food, clothes and even marijuana.
It’s called ‘Weed the Homeless’ and it supports people living on the streets of Los Angeles and San Diego.
Organizers enlist the help of people in the cannabis industry to hand out the marijuana.
They say pot helps treat medical conditions and is a better alternative to dangerous drugs.
"If you look at places where they have legalized recreational cannabis, the levels of people overdosing from hard drugs and usage have gone down substantially," Cannabis activist Jackie Sponseller said.
This weekend marks the fourth time the cannabis industry has donated time and resources to the program.
