Rockford Police fully implement new technology to fight crime

Shot spotter technology is now fully implemented in the city.

It detects gun shots and gives real-time alerts letting police know exactly when and where those shots were fired. The hope is that it leads to a quicker response by police, more evidence and witnesses and more timely medical attention for gunshot victims.

The technology is on both the east and west side of the city in areas that see the most gun violence.
