Rockford Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation raises awareness and aid for victims

A Rockford group works over the weekend to help victims of human trafficking who may be trapped in terrible situations.

Saturday morning, the Rockford Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation, or RAASE, teamed up with Rockford Area Lutheran Ministries to hand out resources on the city’s streets.

They’re called go-packs and each contain a tooth brush, deodorant along with everyday things that organizers say could make a difference to someone struggling.

"Just giving them an opportunity to find help and to find a better lifestyle, for them to understand that they’re valued, know that they’re not invisible, that we see them," said Lori Johnson with RAASE.

Organizers say they put together around 100 bags this weekend, which will be distributed to people at risk of sexual exploitation.
