Athlete of the Week – Ellie Packer

Dakota senior Ellie Packer is our new WREX Athlete of the Week. She recently surpassed the 1,000 point mark for her high school basketball career. She’s a three-sport athlete at Dakota, who makes sure to get the most out of every season.

"In a small school, it’s so important to be in multiple sports," Packer said. "It helps you with every other sport."

Her basketball prowess has stood out over the years. She’s a sharpshooter who honed her skills in her driveway with her dad.

"Without those memories and him, I wouldn’t be in this sport, honestly," Packer said.

Dakota is happy she is. Head coach Kevin Cline has seen a lot of talent come through over the years, and he puts Packer up there with the best of them.

"As an offensive player, she’s got an awful lot of skill," Cline said. "She can shoot from deep, attack the basket, and the biggest thing this year, she’s added the ability to pass."

Packer’s basketball career is getting into the final stages as the season winds down. She hopes to make one last run in the playoffs, before hitting the track for her final sport at Dakota this spring.
