BELOIT (WREX) — The Beloit Police Department is investigating the city's fourth murder of the year after a man is found shot to death at a home Sunday morning.

The department posted on Facebook Sunday morning initially about a death investigation in the 300 block of Portland Avenue.

During a Sunday afternoon news conference, Chief Andre Sayles said police responded to the home at 8 a.m., where a 19-year-old man was shot and killed.

The man, whose identity is not being released at this time, is from the Beloit area, according to Chief Sayles. No arrests have been made in connection to the murder.

Sunday marks the city's second murder in less than three weeks. On Aug. 23, a 20-year-old man was shot and killed in the 1800 block of Fayette Ave. The city has recorded 4 murders in 2021. Beloit saw two murders throughout all of 2020.
