FREEPORT (WREX) — Freeport residents are coming out to show support to a local elementary school.

Center School is hosting a "50 Men in Ties" event to help students learn how to dress for success.

Community and family members, as well as business owners and members of the Highland Community College baseball team will be high-fiving students as they arrive at school in the morning.

Center School Principal, Amanda Hayes, says having this event will encourage success for students and make them feel good about themselves.

"Hopefully this will let them know that the community is behind them," Center Elementary School behavior support specialist, Deontae Collier said. "Nobody is showing up because they are in trouble but, they're showing up to make sure that they stay on the right path."

Students and teachers will also be dressed in their best starting August 31 and every Tuesday through the end of the school year.
