OREGON, Ill. (WREX) — Sweet treats and adorable gifts is what you'll find at Sparklefox Confections. The new gourmet candy shop just opened a couple of weeks ago, but is already making an impact on the community.

"There is so much happening in Oregon," says owner Diana Early, "we've got the Ogle County Brewery next door, there's some really cute boutiques around, it's worth it to come from Rockford... do a day trip and just enjoy it."

She hopes Sparklefox adds to the destination atmosphere building in the city that locals and visitors alike can enjoy.

The Ogle county native decided to open up the store after years of making artisan chocolates in her spare time. She says she has always been an artist at heart and started learning the craft of chocolate making as a hands-on way to fill her creative passion.

"I had been working in marketing for about 20 years and I found so much joy in it," says Early.

For a hobby to a full-fledged business, edible art is her calling.

"[The chocolates] they're unique and they're each individual painted and they have different flavors," she says, "to me they look like little pieces of art."

You can get more than just chocolates at the store: hand-dipped caramel apples, cake pops, gourmet cotton candy, puppy chow, gummy worms, chocolate-dipped strawberries, and the list goes on.

But Sparklefox isn't your ordinary sweet shop. Early says she wanted to create a business that is an experience.

"When you come in here, expect delicious chocolates and gelato, but also you can shop for a gift."

The store carries an assortment of home goods, candles and other small gifts items. Creating what Early calls the perfect one-stop-shop for any occasion.

"Chocolate just goes with gifts," says Early, "It's like a nice 'Here's a treat and a fun mug or bubble bath.'"

Her vision is to continue growing the business and add more to its offerings. Adding a wine bar, coffee to the menu, and a patio space out back.

Making the experience of Sparklefox one that even more people can enjoy.

"I want to do wine nights... and holidays are going to be big here," says Early. "Giving people something to look forward to and a place to hangout is so important to me... I can't wait to keep being creative and adding more."

No matter what kind of sweet tooth you have or gift you're looking for, Sparklefox is sure to have something that tickles your taste buds.

Sparklefox Confections is located at 108 North 4th Street and is open from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. during the week.
