UPDATE: Electrical issue causes fire at Rockford apartment building

UPDATE: ROCKFORD (WREX) — No one is hurt after an electrical fire sends a Rockford apartment building up in flames Friday morning.

According to Rockford Fire, a call came in for a structure fire in the 900 block of Ridge Avenue just after 3 a.m.

When crews arrived, heavy fire and smoke could be seen from the front window of the apartment.

Firefighters had the blaze under control within 20 minutes.

No people in the building were hurt but the Red Cross is helping six people displaced by the fire find temporary housing.

Officials say thecause of the fire is electrical and believed to be accidental.

Totaly damage to the apartment is estimated at $75,000.




ROCKFORD (WREX) — Fire crews are on the scene in the 900 block of Ridge Avenue after a fire broke out inside an apartment building.

According to a tweet sent out by the department, the call for the fire came in just after 3:00 a.m.

13 News has a crew enroute to the scene. At this time, there is no information on if there are any injures, cause or damage estimate.
