BELVIDERE (WREX) — People in Boone County now have another resource where they can get their GED.

Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois is bringing its adult basic education program to Belvidere. It's called the GoodGRADS program. The program helps students prepare for and take the GED exam. The program also provides one-on-one training and offers students scholarships to pay for testing. Goodwill will also help students with barriers they may encounter like transportation, childcare, financial management, social services and housing. GoodGRADS Program Manager Rosemary Cain told 13 News how important a program like this is to the community.

"To offer people in the community who maybe didn't have an opportunity to get a GED or need GED to get a job or a better job or just want a GED for self-satisfaction," said Cain.

The classes will take place Monday through Thursday from 9 - 11:30 a.m. from Sept. 7 - Dec. 16 at the Belvidere Salvation Army at 422 S. Main St. Classes are free and registration is open. To register, you can call Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois at (815) 965-3795 or click HERE.
