9-year-old boy among four shot in Rockford this weekend

ROCKFORD (WREX) — Multiple people are recovering from their injuries after separate shootings in Rockford this past weekend.

The Rockford Police Department says four people were shot in three separate shootings this weekend, including a 9-year-old boy.

The first shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. Friday. Details are limited, but police say they responded to a hospital in the area for a man who had been suffering from gunshot wounds. The 20-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries, according to police. The man is in serious condition and is considered stable.

The second shooting happened late Saturday night in the 2900 block of Carol Place. Police say when they arrived on scene, they found a 56-year-old man and a 9-year-old boy suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds to their legs.

Witnesses told police the child and two adults were standing outside of a parked vehicle when an an unknown suspect fired shots at them.

The last shooting happened around 1:40 a.m. Sunday. Officers once again responded to a hospital for reports of a gunshot wound. Officers met with the 18-year-old victim who suffered non-life threatening injuries.
