Rivets cruise past Jackrabbits behind Culley’s gem

LOVES PARK (WREX) — The Rivets got off to a good start in their series against Kokomo shutting out the Jackrabbits on Saturday night in front of a packed house at Rivets Stadium, winning 9-0. Ryan Culley (Central Michigan University) threw six shutout innings, striking out five to earn the win. Rockford scores four runs in the first inning to get the Rivets on their way.

Rockford hosts Kokomo again on Sunday afternoon at 3:05 before the the Northwoods League All-Star break from Monday through Wednesday.

He graduated from Emerson College in May of 2020, just two days before moving to Rockford to take the job at WREX as a Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter. He majored in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Sports Communication.

Sam is originally from Sturbridge, Massachusetts, and has been an avid sports fan his whole life. He played basketball and baseball in high school, and he went on to play collegiate baseball at Emerson.
