ROCKFORD (WREX) — A Rockford company is awarding a scholarship to honor the memory of a former employee.

OrthoIllinois gave a $2,000 scholarship Tuesday in honor of Kelsea Anderson, a physical therapist who was hit and killed by a car in Wisconsin in 2018.

Tuesday's scholarship was given to Aragorn Luiting, a rehab technician at OrthoIllinois who will graduate from Blackhawk Technical College in May 2022.

Luiting is also a Team USA Water Ski member and worked with Anderson as part of the Rock Aqua Jays for 10 years. He also attended high school with her.

Luiting says Anderson encouraged him to join the Ortho program and believes he wouldn't be in it if not for her.

The $2,000 scholarship is available to students enrolled in Blackhawk Technical College's physical therapy assistant program in Janesville, Wisconsin.
