ROCKFORD (WREX) - Rockford may become a new hub for entrepreneurs and creators, thanks to a new project being launch by Transform Rockford.

Transform Rockford and volunteers from across the Northern Illinois region hope to cultivate this idea into a network of community resources available to help aspiring entrepreneurs.

Transform Rockford’s network of support contains several helpful elements to nurture entrepreneurs:

Innov8 & Cre8 Podcasts – an on-going series of monthly podcasts featuring successful regional business people discussing how to start or expand a business in the Northern Illinois region. – an ever-growing online resource guide for businesses getting off the ground. Resources include financial planning, marketing and more. The next step for the online platform is to track the progress and support needed by each entrepreneur.

Makerspaces – these specialized workspaces are popping up all over the region, allowing creative people with common interests like computers, machining, technology, digital art, and jewelry making to meet, socialize and collaborate.  Transform Rockford is working to create a network of these spaces to reduce duplication of services and provide makers with easy access to the right makerspace.

“These resources are just the beginning of the Rockford region being known as a destination for entrepreneurs," Spitty Tata, Manager of Transform Rockford Program, said.

Transform Rockford estimates that there are 5,000 creators and entrepreneurs in the Rockford area who will flourish with this new organization.
