MONTGOMERY (WREX) — Playing in its first ever NACC Tournament softball game, Rockford University came out in style. The Lady Regents battled back from a 7-1 deficit through 5 innings to win 10-9 in extra innings against Benedictine.

Former Rock Valley College teammates Emily Cox and Mikayla Seay hit back-to-back homeruns in the 6th inning, and Cox followed that up with a 3-run homerun in the 7th inning. The Lady Regents tied the game on a passed ball to force extra innings.

In the 10th inning, Hononegah grad Seay blasted a 3-run homerun and that proved to be the game-winner. Benedictine would score twice in the bottom half of the 10th, but Annaka Bartz caught a line drive to end the game and give RU its first NACC Tournament game win.

Cox went 3-5 with 2 homeruns,3 runs scored and 4 RBI, while Seay posted an identical stat line.

Rockford advances to play Aurora Friday at 4 p.m., with the winner advancing to the NACC South Division Tournament championship game Saturday.
